![]() About This Site Wherein we solve a regular whodunit The Person of Interest We grilled the suspected author and illustrator of all this nonsense and were able to wring a statement out of him without resorting to any unpleasantries. In fact, he had welcomed us into his studio and offered us some jelly beans. My partner and I refused, us being on duty and all. Our person of interest is one Jerry Jindrich of a quiet small town in southern Indiana. The following is Mr. Jindrich's statement. "I confess. I was seized by a playful madness when it occurred to me that jelly beans might grow on vines. That led to imaginings of bean tastings following the rituals and romance of wine tasting. Then I thought, if you could substitute beans for wine and get a chuckle or two, what other substitutions might be funny? It was all downhill from there. Benjamin Franklin, Ludwig Van Beanthoven,... You get the idea." We found incriminating notes and sketches at the scene, plus a late model computer with a well worn drawing tablet. On the computer's hard drive were the original art files that were turned into jpegs for this Web site. We believe he's the one. Investigator's Notes Jerry Jindrich did write and illustrate this site. Much of the material was published earlier on Chateau Meddybemps (www.meddybemps.com), a hugely popular site designed to help young children build learning skills. That site includes material for older children and grownups, but Jerry felt that his jelly bean content could be enjoyed by more people if it appeared on a stand-alone site. Time will tell. Meddybemps.com enjoys around 100,000 unique visitors per month. The site was launched just after noon, Central Daylight Time, on March 12, 2009.
